What makes enable fitness sessions different

This supported exercise is delivered with care, structure, and real-world understanding of disability, injury recovery, and the barriers people face in community settings. It is inclusive by design, where adaptations are a normal part of every session, and focused on dignity and independence, providing support without taking over.

We build consistency and trust so participants know what to expect, helping them make progress they can feel through improved movement, confidence, and participation. The aim is to improve strength, balance, and mobility, increase confidence and willingness to be active, support better participation in day-to-day life, reduce fear of movement and falls, and help create a more active, connected community environment.

How to get started

Sessions are designed to be practical, welcoming, and safe, focusing on movement that supports everyday life such as standing up, walking, reaching, transferring, and building tolerance to activity. They are delivered in small, supportive groups where everyone is seen and included, with clear options and progressions to suit different ability levels.

Simple equipment such as chairs, resistance bands, and light weights may be used where appropriate, with pacing and rest built in to keep sessions achievable. Coaching is always safety-first, with close attention to technique and individual needs. If you run a day centre or community venue and want to offer safe, supported exercise on-site, we’ll discuss your group, your space, and the level of support required.

From there, we’ll create a simple, tailored plan covering delivery, frequency, and session structure to ensure it fits smoothly within your setting.

Why people love our workouts

Our strength and mobility classes will get you strong

My husband and I have been attending Enable Fitness classes for just under a year now to help improve our strength, balance and mobility. We are really feeling the benefit which accumulates gently over time. We’re with a small, friendly group of people and the classes are fun. The exercise programme varies week to week. We are encouraged to work at our own pace and own level of ability. It works very well for us!

The classes are suitable for all ages and all abilities, although targeted at strength and fitness. The exercises have really helped my joint pains and improved my flexibility. The exercises are varied week by week so it doesn't become repetitive and I always come away feeling energised. The class is based on a 'circuit' routine and there is a chair at every station so if a person can't stand they can sit to do the exercise. This class has really made a great difference to me, thank you Mathilde

I have been going to these classes for nearly two years. We have a very encouraging instructor and they understand the movement difficulties that come on with older age. Classes are fun, enthusiastic and lively and are designed to definitely ‘ENABLE’ strength and mobility for the elderly.

I have been attending these classes for almost two years now and can recommend them to anyone looking for a group that’s friendly and full of fun. The various exercises set are varied and challenging but can be adjusted for each person’s abilities. From a personal point of view the classes have made me fitter with improved balance and I’d say to anyone, “come, see us in action and judge for yourself “. You won’t be disappointed.

The main reason to attend is to help us retain some movement at an easier pace, of course you could go to a gym and spend hundreds of pounds and come out exhausted at the end, but that’s not for me. For me the friendships I have made and those yet to come make this the ideal way to help oneself feel as though you are doing something to fight off the inevitable march of old age. our instructor is a well-qualified host who knows all about us oldies and is doing her best to keep us as fit as she can

My husband and I have been attending Enable classes regularly since they started in Melton nearly three years ago. The classes are small, varied and well-run, with a maximum of 12 people in the class, and the emphasis is on building up our strength and balance to help prevent falls. All the exercises are carried out either on or near a chair, with the priority being the care and safety of all class members. Our instructor hard and relates well to her students. Her classes are happy, relaxed and social, with several new friendships having developed as a direct result of Enable Fitness. Enable Fitness enables other people to discover the physical and mental health benefits enjoyed by her students

I find the classes very enjoyable and feel they are doing me some good. Our teacher is excellent and doesn't treat us 'mature' pupils as though we are doddery old souls! The exercises can be tailored to our individual needs & the instructor checks with us before each class if there any changes in our health she should know about. I always leave the classes feeling uplifted and would recommend them to anyone needing a boost to their health regime

I have been attending Enable Fitness classes for a few years now and would highly recommend them to those of “senior” years. Our instructor is delightful to work with - always encouraging, sympathetic and empathetic. If anyone has an injury she will work round it and suggest an alternative. Every week we do different exercises so no boredom sets in and it’s quite exciting to enter the room and see what is laid out! She chooses good music too and is always open to requests!

Jenny G

My Enable Fitness Therapy classes are an essential and very positive part of my life with Parkinson's. However I feel before a class I feel better after an hour of instructor-led exercise.

David W

Exercise tailored to individual needs, This place is so helpful. Not the usual work-up-a -sweat gym, it’s about devising exercise tailored to individual needs, whether that’s regaining mobility, balance, strength, or whatever your issues are. Always friendly and constructive advice on hand to guide and encourage.
